Ladies, I want to alert all women in the Redford area of a disurbing occurance. I went to a party store on the SW corner of 6 mile and Beech Daily on Sunday night. The man working behind the counter (probably the owner/operator) verbally attacked me.

Apparently, I didn't have enought merchandise on the counter to purchase my goods with a cc or debit card. In order to use such cards, one must have a total of at least $10.00. Instead of alerting me that I would need to pay with cash or purchase more goods to get a total of $10 or more, he yells out, "Can't you read?!" Well, yes, there was a sign above the counter that I did not bother to read (there were about 15 of these stupid little hand made signs with all the rules of the store written on them). Instead of just walking out, which I should have done, I decided to purchase more goods. "Throw a couple of packs of Marlboro Lights in there for me then, please", said I. Again, he lashes out at me, "I thought you said you can read!?!?!" Again, I look up, there is a sign that clearly states, no tobacco products can be bought on cc or debit card. Again, my fault. However, did he really have to jump down my throat? I am a paying customer after all. And a new customer at that.

I decided to purchase goods to meet his requirement. As I am walking back up to the counter with the add ons, I say to him that I am new to the area (just moved to town about 6 months ago) and would have spent a lot of $ in his store if he had been a little nicer instead of verbally assaulting me. Well, that put him over the edge. I handed him my cc. After he takes my card, he tells me that everytime time he uses this method of payment, he is charged $0.30 and then adds, "Nothing in this world is free, little girl!" I say, wouldn't it be easier to not accept this form of payment instead of attacking your customers who choose use this form of payment? This man then begins to scream at me, pointing his finger, spitting on me with every word. I am pretty darn mad at this point. All I wanted to do was by some dog food and go home. I begin to yell back...I thought for sure that this guy was going to jump over the counter at me...and for what? I didn't do anything! He then says to me, your from out of town? Where did you come from, Detroit? You are no better than a Detroit #@&%!*. I will let those of you who wish to figure out what that word it as I would never use it myself. Luckily, my Husband was waiting for me in the parking lot when he happened to look up and see this man threatening me. He came into the store and stood next to me. That was all it took.

Turns out, this man was angry with me because I was not escorted by a man! I was so mad that I began to cry. This man attacked me verbally for no other reason than my gender. I think someone should remind this guy that he lives in American now. I also think that he should be aware that Detroit has legally buried the word he used at the end. How dare he judge others when he is so outright nasty himself.

At any rate, I thought I would alert my fellow females in the area to not purchase any goods from the Quickie 2 Liquor store on 6 mile/BD in Redford. The service is outright offensive.

I am very sorry this happened to you. Most Michiganders are much nicer.

WOW! I am sorry this happened to you. I think I would have kindly left my item on the counter and found a customer friendly business.

Doesn't sound like the guy is a Michigander to me.......more like another Islamic fundamentalist that thinks he's still in his homeland.

The lady's husband must have used great restraint. I would have wound up in jail after going over the counter and obliterating the guy had he treated my wife like that.

I encourage consumers of both genders to skip that establishment.

I think you need to contact the "Better Business Bureau", the local police AND City Hall. I know Redford is a small area but they are trying to keep "the pride" in their town. Their city offices are at 5 mile and Beech.

Agreed. Aside from Supervisor Handy, they are a pretty honest township, and area always trying to help out their residents and look good.

OMG!
I know this store... my husband has known this owner for years. I am shocked to hear he used that word... since I am AA. He has always been very nice to my daughter and respectful to me. But this is just a reminder that people while smile in your face, but behind your back...

Wait until I tell my husband about this.

Oh, and actually, for the record... the owner has been in this country for at least 30 + years... came here as a young teen, worked his way up as a stock boy until he was able to save up money to buy his own store. My husband is on first name basis with him.

I am really floored by hearing all of this. In the close to 30 years that my husband has known him, he has never acted this way. I assume that the word you say he used started with an "N" right? I just told my husband and he is finding this hard to believe because he has never heard him use the word in all the years he has known this store owner.

Wow...

Yikes I was just there today. But I didn't buy anything, they didn't have what I wanted and I saw a woman behind the counter at the time.

I hope you didn't buy anything there. I would have just left the stuff on the counter and walked out.
