We are looking into moving to either the west side of state (twin lake area) or north around Traverse city area. Although I love the TC area, I am not liking the traffic in the Summer, and what I got from the people as being a little upetty. I love the whitehall, muskegan area but are there any jobs in the medical field out that way? I run a business from home so I can work anywhere, my wife would need a medical billing job. I do business around the world, but think I could add to my business big time in TC. If anyone lives in the twin lake/whitehall area can you tell me how you like it out there?

Thanks

Try Charlevoix. We have a beautiful hospital right on the shores of Lake MIchigan.

Theres a Hospital in Petoskey too for your wife to work at

The upetty people you speak of are mostly the summer resorters and tourists, not the locals

I live just North of the Whitehall area in Ludington. In and around Muskegon area there are several larger hospitals (not huge, but not little town hospitals either) and the pay scale is much higher than the smaller ones as well. My wife works for one of the big ones in Muskegon and it is well worth the 60 mile drive one way for the pay difference. They recently merged and I believe all the hospitals in that area fall under the Mercy General Health Partners banner now. There is Muskegon General, Hackley, and Mercy Heath Partners in that group. Ludington has a smaller Hospital (Memorial Medical Center), Shelby has a small hospital (Lakeshore), Manistee has a small hospital (West Shore Medical Center). There are medical jobs in this area for sure. Not quite as many tourists here as in TC although we have our share in the Summer.

I just spent the past 14 years living in Harbor Springs and driving to Charlevoix every day for my job. Take it from me, its a nice place to visit, but..............

...the summer tourists and traffic would drive you out of your mind. Traverse city is probably worse!

Just an FYI: The Mercy/Hackley Hospital merger in Muskegon is looking at quite an expansion for the next couple of years, worth $Hundreds of Millions.
