Besides the education program there, are there other programs that would be considered as very good?

As a recent alum of EMU I will tell you of the programs that were gaining in popularity when I was there. Nursing, marketing, computer science and geo-sciences, and education are the most competitive. There is a brand new school of health and human services, a new science complex, and a new student center. EMU is a excellent school that is often criticized because of the city its in (Ypsilanti). Many of the profs at EMU also teach at UM, and many of the programs are pilot programs with UM, students usually intern at the same employers. For the money, its hard to beat EMU's profs and amenities.

The College of Business is very good, and I agree that EMU is a good value. I know costs have gone up significantly since I was there, but I earned an MBA degree in 2002 for a total cost of $10,000 (11 classes). What was nice about the COB was that it was in downtown Ypsi, separate from main campus, with an attached parking garage. It was easily accessible in the evening for working professionals in the MBA program. In my experience with EMU, the COB professors were knowledgeable, accessible, supportive and challenging. My employer recruits at EMU and we get a steady stream of quality COB graduates.

Educatoin and Business is what I have always thought of EMU strengths. Their music school is decent, but I think that it is mostly known for Music ed or therapy more than performing.

I was just looking up to see if anyone had positives about EMU and this is exactly what I was looking for. Any advice on where to live if you are a grad student at EMU?

Where to live check out www.wicklandgroup.com it lists all the condo rentals and homes for sale, Ypsi is cheap and there are really nice homes and condos around Ford Lake which is a huge all sports lake if you like that sort of thing.
