I guess you missed the part where I mentioned at least two times I'm not interested in buying a house. I'll give you a minute to re-read the thread.

Now, I have found condos with granite countertops and fireplaces for 200k or under.

I was just using that as an example. Are you only looking at Royal Oak? Because I was in downtown Detroit yesterday and I saw a nice condo for sale and I found it on Century21.com
8200 E JEFFERSON AVE DETROIT, MI 48214 - Real Estate | CENTURY 21 (http://www.century21.com/realestatelistings/DETROIT-MI-48214-8200EJEFFERSONAVE-35297357 - broken link)

Not sure if you're really into high-rises, so I managed to find a good one in Novi
25612 PORTICO Ln NOVI, MI 48375 - Real Estate | CENTURY 21 (http://www.century21.com/realestatelistings/NOVI-MI-48375-25612PORTICOLn-34652733 - broken link)

But, if you're set on Royal Oak, you can get something like this for a bit more money
432 S WASHINGTON ROYAL OAK, MI 48067 - Real Estate | CENTURY 21 (http://www.century21.com/realestatelistings/ROYALOAK-MI-48067-432SWASHINGTON-35815857 - broken link)

Well, compare and contrast these 3 different options and see what you like.

Well downtown Detroit puts me even farther away from work than I am. I picked Royal Oak because it's halfway between Royal Oak and Harper Woods. Novi wouldn't be bad for me, but my fiance would still have to commute to Harper Woods.

The Fifth in Royal Oak was a building I was looking at.

I think you're biting off more than you can chew. Better see if thier are any resales available in the trailer parks in the area.

How so? Are you suggesting I sell my free and clear house for a trailer?

Well it's an idea, with the economy shaky in MI it could have it's advantages if you had to relocate out of state.

Unfortunately trailer parks aren't as common in Michigan as they are in central Florida.

You wanna make a bet on that? Now 55+ mobile home parks are a different story, FL wins hands down.

Well now that it's settled that Florida wins hands down in the mobile home battle, lets transition back to the condo situation in Royal Oak Michigan.
