My boyfriend is in the Navy and just left for Yokosuka, Japan this week for 3 years and picked up E-4 as soon as he got there. We don't know when he will be able to come home and I would like to join him over there.
So I'm wondering if I would be able to go visit him and get married in Japan and recieve command sponsorship? Since he is already there and not married I didn't know if the Navy would allow it and still give us sponsorship. Thanks so much for any help in advance

You could get married there as long as it is on base and you have an marriage license form the USA. It would be easier if you got the license from where you are a resident of.

As for command sponsorship that one is tricky. In most cases you can stay there while you are waiting for everything to go through but he will not get paid extra OHA you will not be allowed to live in the barracks if he still lives in them. And you would not be entitled to medical care at the base hospital.

Other things that you run into are immigration visa's and what not. You best bet is have him go to the legal office and talk to them about it. They will have all the information for where he is at.
