Currently live in SF Bay area. Will be moving to Twin Cities in May or June 2011. Any advice regarding areas to live? Nothing too hotsy-totsy and no slums! Thinking of Eagan, Bloomington, Woodbury...? Would like, if possible, a senior apartment complex that's nice but wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. Any suggesstions will help. Thank you.

What kind of neighborhood do you want? How much does walkability matter, and, if it does, what sorts of things do you want within walking distance? Does public transportation matter? Any other details you can throw out about what you like or don't like?

My favorite seniors building (from someone who is not yet a senior, admittedly) is the Kenwood Isles in Uptown; it's no Woodbury or Eagan, though, so if you're looking for suburban you won't find it there. (it reminds me a little of a slightly hipper downtown Alameda)

If you do want suburban, there are a number of options (sorry, don't know names) in Edina and into Bloomington; I've taken the bus line that runs from the Southtown mall (in Bloomington) to Southdale (in Edina), and it stops off at Target, the grocery store, and then at the lobbies of multiple buildings that are, I think, 55+. There are places like that all over the metro area, though, which is why the more specifics you can give for your wish list the better!

There are a couple options in Rosemount if you want to look in this direction. There are townhome and condo options.
