1828 Park Ave S, Minneapolis... is this a decent area of town for a 25yr old. As in fairly safe and close to some nightlife.

DO NOT move there! Those buildings are crack USA headquarters. In addition to having druggies living in those buildings, the streets around there aren't a good place to be after dark either.

Sketchy area. That block or the 1900 block was where some drug dealers took over an elderly woman's apartment and eventually murdered her and stuffed her in a closet a few years back.

On the other hand I lived as Park/Franklin in a beautiful apartment during the summer of Murderapolis and had no real problems with anyone. All depends on the building.

Yep....those are the EXACT buildings in question. At least, that's where the elderly woman was stuffed in the closet. I wouldn't move there without a serious appraisal of the building and area! Maybe things have changed and they are awesome now, but my feeling is that unit is a "deal" because it borders the busiest section of interstate in MN and the area is flooded with gang activity. I think it's Sureno's 13 territory....

I live very close to there. Close to nightlife? Well, no...not walking distance...although close with a car to downtown or cedar riverside.

Safe? Well, what is your standard? I've never had a problem (in two years) walking around those blocks after dark, but crime is probably worse there than it is where I live. And where I live is considered to be high-crime, by Minneapolis standards....

Neighborhoods change character over the years. I think, when most of us think of Park/Franklin area (just like my North Mpls block), we are replaying 10-20 year old newspaper articles in our heads. But if you want to find out what a block is like now, you have to go there and decide for yourself.

Is there such a thing as a "bad" neighborhood in this city in your opinion? I know it's not Gary, IN, but in my opinion there are SOME places that just aren't very safe (if you have a choice -- and I assume the OP does).
