We just bought a propane tank at Costco as we got sick of paying the prices of less than full tanks at the exchange places and never knowing when it is empty.

We used to get our's filled at the Marathon Station downtown but they closed. There is one on Cedar and 147th (gas station) too. I can't remember the name of the station though.

There's a spot off Crosstown 62/Nicollet just East of the Cub Foods where school buses fill up & they're opne to the public. Also a spot in the Camden area of N Mpls just off 94 around the Lowry exit.

Paul's on 147th and Cedar in Apple Valley is the absolute best. They are fast, the best price around and give a repeat customer discount. They put a small sticker on your tank that gives you 2 bucks off. These guys almost always have my tank filled before I even pay for it. Then they will put it in your car for you. My parents and I have been filling our tanks here for years.

Update: Paul:s now charges a flat fee as does Crown Rental in Rosemount. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a refillable tank to pay for what we use. Anyone know of a per gallon place in AV, Burnsville or Eagan?

I take mine to the gas station at the intersection of Marshall and Hamline in St. Paul. Not exactly in the south metro, but maybe someone in that area needs a tip, too.

great prices and full fill
Reddy Rents in south Minneapolis has some great prices too. Refills are only $3.49 a gallon. They actually fill 20 lbs rather than some that only fill 15 or so.
