Do people consider Hastings to be a suburb of St. Paul?

I think it could go both ways. I think a lot of people who live in Hastings work in either Minneapolis or Saint Paul. It's close enough to commute. It's not connected to any part of the metro transit system yet.

It's location on the river kind of isolates Hastings from the rest of the cities to a point.

Only to the east...it borders Cottage Grove on the North, Rosemount to the west

The river is north of Hastings between there and Cottage Grove. Rosemount and Apple Valley are directly east of Hastings, and it is all land in between.

I heard that the 61 high bridge in Hastings was getting redone. It was only 2 lanes before, and the busiest 2 lane bridge in the state. Otherwise highway 55 goes right to 52.
