i always thought of minneapolis as 1 big city and never noticed different neighborhoods when i have been in minneapolis. northrup, north loop, could not tell you where any of these places are. like i said, when i drive through minneapolis i just think of it as one city.

That's really not surprising. They really wouldn't affect you unless you live or work here. What is your point?

The city website has maps you could use. There is a link near the top to one showing the neighborhood boundaries and then there are links to maps of the individual neighborhoods.

The city neighborhoods are a good place to start, but these show official neighborhood group boundaries. This sort of ignores what people actually think of the areas. For instance, you'll never find "Uptown" or "Lyn-Lake" on a neighborhood map or "Dinkytown". Both Uptown and Lyn-Lake are broken into four separate neighborhoods (centered around Hennepin/Lake and Lyndale/Lake), and Dinkytown is part of Marcy-Holmes.

Each of these is more of a commercial district than a neighborhood. I think the reason won't find them on a map because their boundaries are not well defined. You can get agreement on what is the center of each is, but not how far out they go.

The links here give a general location of each.
