Moved into an apartment in Bloomington a month ago and there was a small scorpion on my bedroom window this morning about an inch long. I thought they were native to Arizona and mexico. What gives?

The one I had was an inch; if I saw a three inch one I would have had a heart attack, I did not think they lived where it was cold.

probably came in on some bananas or oranges from Arizona, I think it's not all too uncommon. That might even be one of the baby scorpions and mother is hiding somewhere nearby.

Could have hitched a ride on the undercarriage of a car or truck.

That's disturbing. Hopefully it's the only wild scorpion in the state of Minnesota.

In South Dakota we occasionally get the same shock, except it's with those little prairie rattlesnakes. They're numerous west of the Missouri River, but nearly non existent in the eastern 1/3rd of the state. Once in a while one will hitch a ride on a load of hay or via some other means. It is NOT a creature that we want to let get a foothold around here.

Gila monsters, large rattlesnakes, water moccasins, scorpions, and killer bees are some of the creatures that people that try to avoid our northern climate should be able to "enjoy".
