Is there some other west coast in addition to the Pacific coast?

I typed too quickly -- I meant Pacific Northwest.

They really are a great combo, but if I had to say, I'd say west coast. I feel that the last east coast city is St. Louis, whereas KCMO belongs to the west coast. MSP does have mom and pops, historic mansions, some industrial areas as such, but as a whole, the city lies in a grid pattern and we are an incubator for big box. Most of my peers would rather order Dominos for $7.99 over a mom and pop pizza place (which is beyond me!). The east coast has many more curved streets, unburied power lines, and far more mom and pop shops. I spent half my life in NJ, the other half in the midwest.

Kinda west coast imo

East coast cities are very dense and old.

Agree, with the exception of climate. And mosquitoes.

Also, St. Paul has the more unusual street system, with mile based addresses, while Minneapolis has the standard grid system with addresses based on cross streets.

St. Paul also historically has the old ethnic identities and neighborhoods (Irish, Italian, Jewish, Hispanic) while Minneapolis is more of a melting pot.

St. Paul is far more like Chicago and Milwaukee, while Minneapolis is more like Kansas City and Denver.
Very good analysis.

Tell me please, what is mile based address? not familiar with that. Could you please pm me? I don't read here often.

Also, could you tell me-why did Mpls tear down so many buildings downtown in 1960s? were they trying to redefine themselves (as cool??)?
