I found this interesting and thought I would share.

As the legend states, this maps "Number of jobs within 30 minutes by walking or transit, averaged 7-9 AM".

Note: this data is pre-Green Line, a newer version post-Green Line will be coming out soon.

Doesn't show quality of transit though. People are much more willing to take a bus or train that comes every ten minutes than every half hour or so.

I wonder if it takes into account waiting time to get on the bus?

Walkscore has you covered; just scroll down the page until you get to the transit section. It will also give you a percentile transit score for any address you enter.

Don't see what difference the Green Line will make. It runs along and replaces existing bus lines so accessibility isn't any different. Only the form of transportation has changed.

Boarding is much quicker with pre-paid fare to get on and no waiting for someone fumbling for change and wheelchairs can be wheeled right on without having to push up the front row of seats, unload the ramp, lock the wheelchair to the front, and then retract the ramp back in place. It's without a doubt a higher quality ride. Ridership the last time I checked was much higher than the 16,50, and 94 combined.

One of the fellows who collected the data seems to think there will be a difference, as can be seen with his brief comments here-

Chart of the Day: Transit Accessibility in the Twin Cities (2014) | streets.mn

We'll see when they release their new map from the new data, I guess.

I much prefer the Green Line to the bus, my only complaint being that with the bus it was easier and faster to make my bus-to-bus transfer than it is to make my train-to-bus transfer. But overall, the train has proved so far to be more consistent, there's far less time spent waiting while everyone boards, and it's shaved time off my commute overall. Not dramatic time savings, but some. And for people who aren't doing a transfer, then I would suspect that it will increase the number of jobs within the 30 minute parameters.
