So I'm 29, transplant to the cities met a girl who is leaving in a month or so, and I really want to try and impress with a few bike-picnic dates because she is really into that.

I was wondering if any of you have any favorite scenic spots that are not as busy or a bit more secluded, perhaps a beach along the river close to a bike trail, that offer a nice picnic-ing spot. One spot that comes to mind for instance is close to where I live, and overlooks a bluff along the river.

It'd be great if you can share some google map points. I'd love to explore further south along the river away from the city that might be intersting or scenic. Any other unconventional date ideas involving biking are welcome too! (Ex: biking to a nice bar on a lake perhaps)

Thank you!

Bike to Minnehaha Falls, dinner at Sea Salt, followed by a walk along the creek at the bottom of the falls.

There's a rock at the west end of Summit Ave. overlooking the Mississippi that is pretty, although it does get a fair amount of visitors in the summer.

Does Sea Salt ever have a line that is less than an hour? The food is a good deal, but not anywhere near that good of a deal.

Yes. When they first open and mid-afternoon are the best times to go. Another good place is Sand Castle on Lake Nokimis. Good fish tacos and not nearly the crowd as Sea Salt.

Minnehaha Falls was one of the busiest places I went in all of Minneapolis.

That's the spot I tagged! It's one of my favorites. Thanks for that.

Did you walk down to the creek and out to the river after dinner time?

I walked down to the creek and to the river, yes. It was around 3pm on a Friday.

Well, I agree that I did not meet the OP's criteria for seclusion, and while Friday afternoons there are one of the peak times, I've been many places in Minneapolis that were busier. I guess our experience differs.

By the way, what was your recommendation again?
