...lived in grant township, the area north of stillwater is special, a little town north of grant and on the St. Croix river is called Marine on ST, Croix, check that out.........

I've got to say though, as a non-stereotypical Minnesotan whose parents aren't from here, I do notice that people here get into your business moreso than other places. For example, I remember times at like the gas station the attendant would not only ask how I am/how my day is going, but continue on with conversation and expecting me to carry it with them -- when all I want is to just get in and get out quickly. I'm not an introvert but I'm not an extrovert either, so sometimes I just want to be to myself and people are still nosy (though it's almost always positive, or at the very worse, "fake nice", which is better than rude).

It's far from problematic and I think it's changed somewhat since the 90's when few people here were transplants or not "lifers", but I just wanted to add my $0.02 and notify the OP that people in MN especially are openly (if not a bit reserved or passive-aggressive) nice and communicative. I think the OP can find happiness here in specific enclaves.

Yeah one of our neighbors (in our first place) could be a little nosey but not overly so. I mean that's human beings. People in Minnesota are open and will talk to you OP. Small or big town. It's the way it is. If you want people to leave you alone maybe move west (Oregon, Washington, Colorado...).
