Hi. What are the times of rush hour? Is there a heavier concentration into the Twin Cities from the suburbs vs. the other way? What would be the commute time leaving from the Highlands area of St. Paul towards the Hyland-Bush Park area?

Thanks a bunch!

St Paul Highland to Bloomington Hyland would be a rough rush hour commute. Smooth sailing to MOA, then it's stop & go until way past Nicollet. And that's when the weather is decent! Rush hour =~3:30 - 6:00 p.m.

494 is not easy to predict especially with construction on 62 and 35W for at least 2 more years. I would ballpark it at 45 minutes.

I take 494 The opposite way from 77 to Pilot Knob. Traffic is light going from west to east in the morning and moderate going east to west in the afternoon. Traffic is alot heavier going from east to west in the morning and west to east in the afternoon (your commute). Anyways, I'd have agree with Clifford's estimate.

Actually, depending on exactly where you are going the commute from Highland Park to Old Shakopee Rd or that general area isn't bad at all. You have about a mile on 494 that can back up if there is an accident but if you then head south on 77 to Old Shakopee it is very quick. You can bypass most of the 494 mess by taking 34th and then American Parkway to Cedar/77 too--no traffic to American Parkway. You could also just take American Parkway over as well. There are stop lights but traffic is better then 494.

She said she's going to "Hyland/Bush Park" (I assume she means Bush Lake Rd.) These are in West Bloomimgton, way past Hwy. 77. I agree with Cliff's estimate..

Right, but the entrance to the park is off Old Shakopee Road by 98th street or so. You can avoid the 494 mess by taking the back roads to get to the park. Now, since she wasn't specific as to where she is going exactly, that is why I added "depending on where you are going...".

Got it. I was thinking of the Old Shokopee Rd segment south of the MOA.

Red face Commute & Traffic Question

Thanks. That info is helping rule out that area 45 minutes is too much one way.

Sorry if my area info was confusing...It is 494/5 and 100 intersection.
