Shakopee vs Lakeville
We're looking for our first home. We're renting a house in Lakeville and previously rented an apartment in Burnsville. Our realtor is really geared up about Shakopee. Our price range is $250k - $300k. I like the Lakeville/Apple Valley area, but that might just be because I'm familiar with it. Anyone have some insight on Shakopee? Its seems like a town full of rows of townhomes. We have children, so the school system is important. Is Shakopee something great, or should we focus on Lkvl and AV?

Are you going to find something in your range in Lakeville? If so, go with what you like. I would think your range sounds more shakopee than lakeville, and that might be why your realtor is steering you. Ask that question. Not a big deal to be steered a direction, but asking why is perfectly fine and should be expected.

I think between Shakopee, Lakeville or Apple Valley you should have absolutely no problem finding a beautiful row of identical townhouses to move into.

We have found a bunch of older homes in lkvl that are in our range. We even put in an offer on one, but realized it had an electric substation right behind it (which has a cancer risk) so we withdrew our offer. We are only considering single family homes, not townhomes.

Yeah, I was kidding with my previous post. I definitely cannot blame you for not wanting to lose yourself in a maze of cookie cutter townhomes. If you look at some of my other posts you'll see that I'm very anti-townhome for various reasons.
