KSTP TV - Minneapolis and St. Paul - Vikings stadium bill still alive* (http://kstp.com/news/stories/S1544805.shtml?cat=1 - broken link)

Quote:
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The Vikings stadium bill is on shaky ground after going down to defeat in a House panel and as lawmakers and Gov. Tim Pawlenty grapple with a court ruling over last year's budget cuts.
A Senate committee overhauled the bill Wednesday before approving it. The new version would still rely on the team for a third of the cost while raising an unspecified amount by selling permanent seats.
The changes removed a stream of Minneapolis money now going to the city's convention center and a proposed lottery scratch-off game.

The team is seeking a $791 million new stadium. Earlier, a House committee rejected another version of the bill on a 10-9 vote.

After the court decision, Pawlenty said lawmakers should focus on the deficit and the stadium proposal is "not helpful."
Guess we will see if it lives on...

I think the stadium bill has as many lives as Favre's retirement decisions.

Favre won't be coming back. And I'm 10000000% percent confindent.

I also made this EXACT statement AT THIS EXACT TIME last year, but it was "I am 10000% confident that I will be seeing Favre in a Vikes uniform"

You should have seen the scoffing.

I know sports. Favre will not be back. He looked like my Grandpa out there. Actually, he looked like my crappy car that was once really good, and if it was 1998 it would still look real good, but it's not, and it looks like it was once glory, but just isn't anymore. Each Down last year towards the end of the season was like watching a plane take off with duct taped wings.

Don't let our stacked offense fool you.

The quarterback is an integral part of an offensive system, but it's the other 10 guys that matter.

He was one hard hit away from being in a wheelchair all season long.

Well if he's not back we're fu**ed cause we've had two drafts now to take a top tier qb *cough*cla*cough*usen*cough*cough*mccoy*cough* but we decided to put all our eggs with Farve. If he quits on us, well, what do we do?

I'm sayin' you didn't...link to your post?

Your last paragraph is descriptive but jusy sayin' it, don't make it so. You seem to have conveniently forgotten all but his last pass and how until that last game he probably outplayed the other QB in all but 2 or 3 games. I'll take those results every year and be in better shape than most every team in the league.

Favre will be back, and it already has been communicated to the Vikings brass, just like this time last year.

I am 100000% sure Farve doesn't know if he is coming back yet. By the way, I have one more zero than you. If I am a betting man, that New Orleans game took off a few years of his body and even his spirit. It was a wake-up call that the clock is ticking. I'm sure his wife is pleading to be rational which will have an impact on if he plays. I know a few ex-pro players that pushed themselves too much. Nome of them walk all that well.

He's in his 40's and his body is wearing. The Doc's put his shoulder back together nearly as good as before (and his arm was a lot better than the majority of pro QB's). The reason he looked like an old man was because he plays hurt. I’ll bet nearly every pro player would have been off of the field if they took that kind of punishment. That’s his trademark.

If the Vikings successful season was because of the other 10 players, they should have protected him more in the NO game and he wouldn’t have looked like an old man. I’d predict if you asked the players, owners, and coaches how important Farve was last season, they wouldn’t call him a GrandPa. And they know football.

Personally, I'd like to see him play every other game and save his body but I don't think his ego would let that happen. I'm putting my money that he hangs it up but no one can be sure.
