I checked the weather today. It's 77 in Burnsville here and it's gonna be 83 tomorrow with t-storms predicted. We had a freeze warning in September and now we're going back in the 80s momentarily.

Global warming the cause? This weather is some weird stuff man. It's almost scary.

October of 1953 had 8 days of 80+ degrees, while we have had 6 so far this year.

October of 1897 had a warmer average temperature.

I believe 1871 is when the official weather record keeping started in MN. There might have been some even warmer Octobers before that.

Duluth made it to 80F yesterday and the record was set in 1980 for 80F. Tonight is still very warm and muggy seems like summertime really.

The wind is from the south also feels so nice

It has been 98 °F in MN during October in the past.

MN October Temperature Records:

Highest Temperature 98 °F (37 °C) October 5, 1963 Beardsley

Lowest Temperature −16 °F (−27 °C) October 26, 1936 Roseau

I was just browsing through some of the other record highs and we have had 84 in November, 74 in December, 69 in January, 73 in February, 88 in March, 101 in April, and 112 in May. The record high for February is the oldest from 1896.

It is not uncommon to have a week or so of warm temps in October-happens nearly every year.

I was so tempted to turn on my AC last night. Went to bed around midnight and it was still near 80F, but I refuse to turn on the AC in October.

And its snowing in Denver and Colorado Springs this morning. I gather that's pretty unusual as well.

We have so much dirt blowing around down here though. After yesterday I have a layer of sand EVERYWHERE in my house, yuck. With the farmers in the fields and how dry things are, it's bad. A little rain would be very helpful.

has been nice out, but on a side note, I do tend to get amused when every extreme weather event has people saying 'global warming' or 'climate change' ... the weather is no more or less extreme then in the past, there's just faster information flow and more people to notice the weather. It's called a warm front. It took a lot of southerly winds to keep it this warm the last few days. Other examples like getting down below freezing in Northern Florida are not unprecedented, but people blow them way out of proportion, at least on the internet. On the other hand, one can't deny humans have increased the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere. What long term effects that will have? Who knows... so I can understand a bit I guess. I believe we will get past that hump and technology will make it so we no longer pollute one day in the not so distant future.

Ok, I broke down and turned the AC back on. It's just too dusty to keep the windows open.
