That's Med city for you....Just my opinion but I think the higher wages in the medical field adversely effect the lower wage earners. I know housing etc. is a higher in town the even in Stewartville.

That does not surprise me about Rochester. It has become a second major economically prosperous region for Minnesota. With the sprawl in a large metro like the Twin Cities, this is a welcome development IMO. Nice to have another area that can offer the jobs while still being reasonably close to the TC and not far from the Bluff Country (Lanesboro, etc) and the Mississippi Great River road (Wabasha, Lake City, Winona, etc) for easy weekend getaways. The added bonus is to still have a good chance at getting paid an excellent salary.

Here is some of the good economic news for the city:

Destination Medical Center Project: DMC: Destination Medical Center

Elk Run Biosciences Park started near Rochester: Elk Run biotech campus may get first business | Star Tribune.

Belgian biosciences firm starts a subsidiary in Rochester: http://www.c3bs.com/en/sites/default...110922_cardio3.

This is a comparison of Hennepin County (Minneapolis area) and Olmsted County (Rochester area) home prices and rents:

Hennepin: median home value $209,200; median rent $1,375 Hennepin County Home Prices and Home Values - Zillow.

Olmsted: median home value $139,900; median rent $ 995 Olmsted County Home Prices and Home Values - Zillow
