Default Relocation advice

My husband just took a job in Minnesota and left this week. I along with our 4 children that are still at home will remain in MIchigan until at least June before we join him there. He will most likley not return umtil June as money is very tight. Out of the four kids at home we have two 5 year olds and Dad being gone is really hard on them. At first I think they thought he would be home the next day but now that a few days have past they are crying a lot. Our one child who is 5 is a child that thrives on the same things everyday. I was wondering if others have been in this same situation and how they got through it and what helped their kids.

Hang in there! That's the best advise I can offer. June seems forever away, especially to kids, but it will be OK.

Will your husband have access to a computer during non-working hours? A cheap web-cam may help your kids feel more connected to him. Writing letters and using snail mail could be fun too.

I'd try to keep the kids busy and keep your chip up when you're around them--your attitude will be the driving force as to how well this temporary family separation will go. Good luck!
