Default California Needs A Giant 1,000 Foot St. Louis Arch For San Diego

If San Diego Cali only had a giant 1,000 foot arch that would put a city on the verge of greatness , right over the edge into greatness.......

Kcmo, don't you have a couple of pix of the entire St Louis skyline, from downtown STL to Clayton?

Love them both. Two great cities. Almost as great as the double punch of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia in PA.

St. Louis has a very different layout than most cities in terms of skylines. Technically, it extends all the way to Clayton. Looking at it from the southeast or the northwest shows it to be huge. It's size is very masked just looking across from Illinois.

And Kansas City is exactly the same way. KC's skyline extends through Crown Center, midtown and the Plaza, very similar to the trek STL skyline makes to Clayton. Although, I must say Clayton has a very cool skyline.

*Sigh* I wish I could recall where I posted my initial feedback to a sky line comparison. So much of what people post is based on what they see at street level, and is skewed by elevation. I thought the elevation of downtown KC was higher than areas around it, the opposite of downtown St. Louis which is much closer to river level than KC. When looking at the height of the building (street to roof) of those in the immediate CBD, they are very comparable for tall structures. Yes, One KC place is taller than Met Square - but not dramatically. Then Town Pavillion is close in size to the SBC building ... and it continues. The appeal of any skyline architectually is taste. I happen to like some of the buildings in St. Louis .. the US Bank Building offers very interesting and unique design. I'll keep searching for my older posts that pretty much says the are more alike in size than different (however, I think it also said that St. Louis actually has MORE buildings over a certain height in the CBD that KC ... )
