My husband and I want to move to the St. Louis area poss. Chesterfield area w/in a year and want to get several opinions about what the vibe is re: inter-racial marriage and their children? I'm Italian and fair and my husband is very dark skin, but not African American and I want to knw how the mid-west percieves this? I have heard stories of a girl w/her adopted african-american brother were in Springfiled,Mo and were almost run dwnd by some skin heads(KKK) and wanted to knw is that a problem everywhere in St. Louis?

St. Clair County, in Illinois, is the least segregated county in the St Louis area. Although it has some racial history, it has gone from the most segregated to the least in the St Louis area. O'Fallon Illinois has proven to be the most popular suburb for all minorities on the East Side, because of its military base, which brings in people from all over the country. A few good suburbs in Illinois are Swansea, Belleville, Shiloh, and Fairview Heights, as far as diversity goes. Chesterfield isn't too bad, but as a Latino, from what I hear, Maryland Heights is the best suburb in Missouri for minorities. Other good cities may be Edwardsville Illinois ( a College Town), University City MO, Clayton MO, and various areas of St Louis City.

I have lived here all my life and skinheads are a VERY seldom conversation at all in MO. When we do it is usually in regards to skinhead action in some western state. As far as i know; Mo does not have a bad reputation in regards to this. Can you back that up with some facts please.

Chesterfield is a country club type place. If you're able, financially, to live there, racism shouldn't be a problem.

Smile Moving to Missouri

My husband and I are moving back to missouri... He is retired military. We have lived all over the world and yes I to would like to live in a diverse, well kept, decent school dist. The further south you go, fenton, imperial, etc... the worse it gets and dealing with SOME close minded individuals. My husband and I are white and we have adopoted two children, one native american/hispanic and the other hispanic/spanish. We are looking in the Parkway school districts. If anyone would like to comment on those areas? I will tell you this anytime you can be around a military base area... (Fairview Hieghts) you will see diversity at its best.... We had thought about that area... However, to far of a drive for husbands work...
