This post is in memory of MHP trooper David DeLaittre.

Rest in peace friend, may those that knew you be better because of you, and may those that didn't find inspiration in your values.

I didn't know you personally, but as a colleague your loss is impacting. I was on duty during your memorial, and hearing dispatch honor you with your last call was moving.. To those that knew you, I'm positive that your friendship and memory is and will always be inspirational and impacting. It's hard for us old farts to see you kids move on before we can, and there is no rhyme or reason in our minds, but we hold onto the hope that there is a better purpose.

Rest in peace kid, you will be missed...

Take care David,
See you on the other side.

My hat is off.

My hand is cuffed.

My thoughts...... Are never enough, and I'm sorry.

I couldn't attend the services yesterday either, but some of my firefighter bretheren from our department did.

Everyone in Emergency Services is diminished just a little when one of our own dies in the line of duty.

Rest in peace my friend. Our burden is greater without you.

I knew / know both Trooper DeLaittre (and family), as well as the Bouldin family. The town of Three Forks may never recover from this tradegy. The amount of law enforcement and emergency personel that participated in the procession and attended the memorial definately let the families know that there is a lot of support out there. Thank you for posting that MTSilvertip.

Very moving tributes to a brave young man. I have to confess I wasn't sure who David was was, so I looked him up, and I thought I'd share it with others who might also be wondering:

Wow. You never think it can happen here... he was awfully young.

Here's a nice short biography article and a bit on the memorial service.

Another article that talks more about what happened:
No clues on motive of suspected shooter
Doesn't appear to be any "motive", just a guy with problems who lost it.

.......Timberwolf232......

Great post........ The great State of Montana was diminished by this incident.

However, the quality of it's residents and dedication of it's law enforcement personnel will forever make it, and keep it, truly:.... "The last best place".

RIP Trooper DeLaittre...................................

I concur, the vast amounts of territory these law enforcement officers patrol with back up far away..they are the bravest.

RIP and i hope his sacrifice will inspire others to achieve their goals. Such a fine young man should show us that our world is in good hands.
