Lots of those dang things around this year. 8 attacks so far i think?
There were tracks of a good sized grizz in where I was hunting deer, really low, near the Yellowstone River. Those dang things are supposed to be going to bed now, not out harrassing hunters! Maybe the out-of-stater migration wasn't as good as usual this year so they are still hungry?

We didn't see it, really didn't want to, but we still posted a guard on the deer when one of us left to get equipment to get them out.

Funny how a 338 magnum can feel like a popgun at certain times... a 105 howitzer would have been nice, but they are hard to swing on a moving target

*sigh*

You all are bumming me out. Here I plan to move to Montana in part for the hunting, and it looks like the wolves will just be allowed to destroy everything.

I hate being the outside making commentary about the state of things, but should I end up the in the area, I think it's obvious the wolves are more problem than they're worth.

How many countless millions of dollars were spent to build up these giant herds of elk? And now for what?

You should have plenty Muley's in Montana. The ranch I hunted, the one and only time I got out there, the back fence is the state line. I chased all the deer over that fence. But my tag is good til Dec 15, so I might sneak out there again.
