Anyone want to share why their state of Montana is a better place to live than our Wyoming neighbor?

There are some very nice places in Wyoming, small communities in the North Central part, those that surrounding Yellowstone National Park. The southern part is pretty bleak if you ask me.

But, that having been said, Wyoming has its head on straight when it comes to developing energy, coal, gas & oil. For example, they have about 1/10 the amount of recoverable coal reserves that Montana does, but produce 10 times more!! The result is that the state of Wyoming runs a huge budget surplus and their schools are some of the best funded in the Nation.

So, to answer your question, Montana has a way to go. Can't eat the beauty!!

Who has the jobs? According to an April 2008 survey by CNN, Wyoming is tied to South Dakota for the lowest unemployment at 2.6%. both of those states have huge resource development in oil, coal and gas. Montana ring in at #14 with 3.8% unemployment.

A harder to read chart from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics for July 18, 2008 shows US at 5.5% unemployment, MT at 4.1, WY at 3.2 and SD at 2.8. So it's different depending on the source and/or changing.

To answer your question, Wyoming has the jobs.

Yup, it is. Man of few words, Yup, it is. But only because I live here and I love to cook so I cook here. Course, I only cook wild game, elk, deer, antelope, mountain goats, buffalo, moose, did I mention the 2 pheasants I got in my yard?

A good crossbow is quiet. Done lost 3 arrows but I'll tell you it was good eating.

I haven't bought meat in years. Not sure you are supposed to. I got 3 elk, 5 deer, 6 antelope in the big freezer. Need to get some fish. Got bait, just need the time. Went down and got insurance today. Damn, $87 for the year. What the hell is this country coming to? Just bought liability, but then again, haven't rammed anybody for 10 years or so.

I live in the wonder of the world. Just below the Big Horn Mountans. Do I get to shovel snow, hell yes. I love it. Gotta get some exercise some how. haha Who wouldn't? I must say, I do a wonderful job. 4 wheeler with a blade, I have fun. Is there wind? You betcha. today we got a gust up to 8 mph. Didn't know what I was going to do with my hat. haha Every body says Wyoming has wind. I'm waiting, haven't seen it yet.

Is Wyoming better then Montana????? I dunno. Wyoming is where I park my 4 wheeler, Wyoming is where I call home. But it''s only 9 miles from Montana. I go up there and buy all my groceries. I used to go up and build buildings. State line doesn't mean much. I have neighbors and they live in Montana. So what? They are neighbors. Good folk. Do they say, I'm african american? No, they say, "Hey, I'm your neighbor." That's good enough.
