The point of learning to speak French is #1 it is an official language of our country and it allows you to visit one of the most beautiful parts of North America ,France and many other places ,true you can visit without being able to speak French but using a guide to translate really is a pain.

Ive lived in Montreal for 40 years worked in a totally French milieu for most of those years and bottom line? i like my Anglo culture as much as francophones enjoy their French culture,French to me now that i have retired is irrelevant in my lifestyle, all my friends are English,the places i go are all English,the media i use for entertainment is all English,Mike If you want to assimilate into the French culture go right ahead,im quite happy maintaining my Anglo culture.
