Hi all,

I’m a 21-year old female Dutch student, who is going to study in Montréal at the L'Université du Québec à Montréal, L'École des Sciences de la Gestion (I still have to improve my French though ), from August – December 2008. Since no other students of my university (Maastricht University) will go study there, I am looking for housing myself. Preferably, I would like to live with students who already study at this university (and live either with their parents or in a student home), in order to help me getting acquainted during the first weeks of my stay. I study International Business in the Netherlands, and I like sports (tennis, fitness), listening to music, hanging out with friends and watching my favorite TV series (Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives etc. ), and I’m willing to pay 1000 Euros maximum per month. Anyone any recommendations / ideas where to look?

Kind regards,

Eronne

Dear Eronne,

You can find a 30 m2 apartment for 500 $CAD in a cement block building in downtown Montreal. Look for the area near Berri-UQAM metro station to be walking distance to school, or anywhere near a metro or bus line. The Plateau is very fun to live in (metro Sherbrooke, Mont-Royal, Rosemont), and the area around Guy-Concordia metro caters to students in the English-language universities of Concordia and McGill.

Look at toutMontreal.com, services et répertoire de sites web de Montréal, Free Kijiji Canada Classifieds | Free Ads | Petites Annonces Gratuites, LesPAC - Site d'annonces classées numéro 1 au Québec. Immobilier, Autos, Emplois, Rencontres et plus for listings. Public transport is very good in Montreal, as we went to the cinema Sunday with 30 cm of snow on the ground and had to no problem at all.

If you have any questions, do ask.

All the best.

I go at uqam's ESG too! I live in the suburb but if you want to know housing from people that study there, you can join the facebook group and post your message on the wall.

Else, you can look at different housing websites about downtown, I don't really know them though.
