IMHO - the victory looks much better than most harleys. the only reason to buy a harley would be join "the club". HD has marketed itself extraordinarily well. I believe most people buy a harley simply to fit in and be part of the harley experience.

From what I have read, victory motorcycles are very good and reliable. There are at least 3 dealers within 100 miles of me in Maine. A second bike for me would be a victory, but not sure which one. I testdrove a kingpin, and it was sweet.

For now, I will stick with my paid for honda that gets 50 mpg.

Yeah, I know the "Harley experience" type.....that ain't me. Never bought a new one, in fact, my NEWEST Harley is a 1965 FL 'Glide.....last year of the panhead....first year with electric starter.

Have a couple of 50's Indian Chiefs also.

I've managed at times to get my bike's mpg below my car's, but those were fun rides

I got some new cruisers I recently check out that is value buys. The Suzuki Boulevard M109R isn't that bad. It got that sport and cruiser look. 240 mm tire in rear.
Attachment 19554

Also the Yamaha Star Raider S look pretty good with a 240 mm tire in rear. I think this the bike Harley should have of built. It look similar to their custom cruiser.
Attachment 19557 Attachment 19558

Attachment 19559 Attachment 19560

All these two bikes need is some custom set of chrome wheels and a rear 280 mm tire upgrade. With all the upgrades and chrome wheels you'll still be at around 18k.

All that Victory need is a 280 mm rear tire to give it that even more custom look.

See if you can get a test ride on the top few bikes you are thinking about. Harley is a very well established and respected (revered?) name, if you get a new one and take good care of it you can always sell it and get most of your money back, if you want to. The Victory is a little more sophisticated design. Some people bought 88' HD's awhile back and had cam bearing failures, these were not always handled to their satisfaction, and the guy who has one that has not given trouble always wonders if he should go in and put in the updated bearings on his own nickel, or does he feel lucky? This problem does not affect current production bikes though.

Any of the Japanese cruisers is a good ride as well.

Default In the winner is....

YouTube - victory motorcycles awesome

I went back to the victory dealer and looked around again.I fell in love with the 08 cory ness. They made only 200 bikes of this model. They are number and sign. They want $23,700 for it.I wanted a roadking hd,but now i wanted something more custom looking and made with more american parts.Nothing against overseas bike, but wanted a american bike. I can't get my license until august. That still didn't stop them for trying to sell it to me.I told them i will wait to get my license first and wait till 09 comes in that way i can get a better deal like 2.5% rate on older models and maybe a price drop. The bike is smooth, its loud, but didn't vibrate hard.I told them i was looking at harley before. The dealer didn't put harley down anyway negative.I want worry about resale value.I am buying a bike to ride not trading or selling my bike every few years. If i wanted an investment i will invest in mutual funds not a motorcycle.Back to the bike,i like the way it feel when i sat on it.I love the look of it also.Alot of details to attention on the bike.Their only upgrades that i will do is a 280mm rear tire ,a side mount plate bracket,a chrome oil cooler cover and custom air filter to enhance that custom look.
