It seems to me that these are two distinctively different ways of wenting movies, you either subscribe for a flat fee and enjoy unlimited content for a set period of time, or you pay for each unit based on the length of time you rented it. But which method do you prefer?

I honestly prefer neither; just buying just the DVD (still don't have a Blu-Ray player yet) given you don't have to worry about any returns, plus it's a copy you "own" for yourself. However, if DVDs/Blu Rays become obsolete, obviously this implies that online-based movie services like Netflix will win out, and this could eventually doom video kiosk companies due to lack of stock.

I personally won't go back to old fashion video kiosk type again. I love my netflix and the convenience of choosing tons of movies online, plus the instant viewing feature either through my Wii console or download from my computer. This is offered for free on top of the regular subscription we already have. You definitely can't beat its movie selections.

I've been a hardcore user of Netflix for a long time now. For a long time I had the unlimited three disc plan then added HD to that. Since view it now has become unlimited though I've dropped my subscription down to 1 disc at a time and do all my viewing online. I think I've had the same physical disc checked out for over a year now, lol.

I'm with GraceC.

I just got a new DVD player (Blu Ray and regular DVD) that has Netflix streaming, but sometimes I just watch on my computer, it's fairly comfy here.
The day I began Netflix (I think it's been 5-6 years now) really changed things for the better, and now with audio/video streaming, things have changed even more. I do still buy DVDs that I really like, but I'm not going to go crazy with that, whether Blu Ray or regular.

Kiosks may still have their place, but they are not for me.

Oh, you're the guy. I've had a fairly obscure disk at the top of my queue for about a year. It can't be out because it's that popular, I'm sure somebody's had it on their coffee table forever. At I certain point I hope they'll realize that they're never going to watch it and send it back.

I think it depends on how many movies you watch a month. If you only rent once or twice, go for redbox, four or more? Do netflix. Plus, I LOVE their online feature!

Do you seriously buy every DVD in which you think you might be interested? I love Netflix...I've checked out many thinks I don't think I ever would have bought or even rented if I had to shell out $$ for that title specifically. And I've discovered some great movies that way. There are a lot of movies that I have enjoyed but honestly can't see myself watching again and again. A lot of dramas are like that for me. I only buy movies that I can see myself seeing multiple times, especially for when I have out of town guests.

Definitely another Netflix fan here.
