The western he did, his character was named " Handsome Stranger". The part where he told about stopping a runaway team of horses was funny. It was a team or horses pulling a fire enngine.
Kindergarten Cop was my favorite. It was more realistic than his other movies and I like that at the end he gave up being a cop in order to be a Kindergarten teacher and they all lived happily ever after (hopefully). The end.
Every once in a while, an actor comes across a script that's perfect for him. All it needs is a few years, so age can do it's thing. John Wayne bought the movie rights to True Grit 20 years before he finally decided he was at the right age to play Rooster Cogburn. Clint Eastwood did the same with Unforgiven. He kept the script for many years until he thought he was ready for the part.
I don't know it for a fact, but I think Arnold did the same with Predator. His character Dutch was old and experienced, the story was fresh and hadn't been run into the ground, and the genre was one that Arnold was already well known and very successful in. Dutch won because he was both smart and tough, something that Arnold is himself.
And that alien was damned scary for the time. It re-defined 'alien' even better than the predator in the movie Alien, as it's motivations were something humans understand, and didn't come from the forces of nature alone. Those predators were here out of choice, participating in something humans see as a sport.
Any villain is only as good as his opponent. Predator II was just so-so, I thought, and I never went to see any of the others. Arnold was the perfect person, and the predator was his perfect match. We never knew how it would end from the beginning to the end.
Kindergarten cop gets my vote as well I loved that movie and also loved the female lead as well cant remember her name right now Pam something .
