Eating Out: Sloppy Seconds.

We watched the first three epis of House of Cards, gotta love Spacey. Robin Wright is just meh so far, could think of a list of actresses who'd have done as good or better of a job.

It's because supposedly they give each movie a "star rating" personalized for you, based on what you have liked in the past and/or what your prior viewing history has been. Very stupid if you ask me, I would prefer a traditional star system, a lot more like amazon for books.

I don't really like the star ratings either. I watch a lot of documentaries on Netflix and often the people that review them will rate the movie based on the subject or their personal agenda rather than the actual quality of the documentary. So I use my best judgment and sometimes look the movie up elsewhere online (Amazon, Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB) if I want to get a better picture. Or just start watching and turn it off after a few minutes if I don't like it.

I did watch all of House of Cards...it's a solid show, not groundbreaking IMO, but intelligent and well acted. I'm watching Portlandia now for something a little lighter in tone.

Camp 14: Total Control Zone.

Documentary about the labor camps in North Korea. depressing as hell, but very informative and you get a glimpse of what goes on in N. Korea from a man who was actually born in a labor camp.

I'm watching the NBC drama "Life" that was on TV in 2007-09. Discovered it on Netflix and really like it.

One of my all-time favorite TV series. Great performances all around.

That annoys me as well. I don't want them to guess what I like, just give the the ratings of the thousand of others who have watched it. I usually have to click on the the movie individually to find that out then click back to go back to browsing. Kind of a PITA.

Just finished watching the Annika Bengtzon series. Swedish crime drama. Not bad.
