Straight forward enough question. Of all the movies in all the years, what movie or movies have the absolute best car chase scenes? I really like the American muscle cars escaping from police in movies like Gone in 60 Seconds, and admittedly, a few scenes in the Fast & Furious movies.
Remember, the movie itself doesn't have to be good at all, just looking for a great car chase scene. Please share!
I personally put the end chase in the movie Deathproof at the top of the list.
I fully expect to see several movies on here that I have never heard of before, this is the first. Will be investigating more as they come. Without giving too much away, can you explain what made it so good?
Fast 5 was the best with the vault heist.
Honorable mention goes out to Who Framed Roger Rabbit with the Weasels and the police chasing down Benny the Cab.

I am always bored silly at chase scenes ... to me there's no such thing as a "good" chase scene.
I was thinking yesterday as I fast-forwarded through a chase scene in a TV show that the only way it would work is if they showed an aerial view (which I suspect most people wouldn't like, of course) ... otherwise, there's no way to follow where the parties are, how close they are to getting caught, etc. This is why I find chase scenes boring and pointless ... you can't really tell what's going on.
Sorry ... maybe it's a guy thing, or a people-who-like-cars thing? I mean, I drive a Hyundai. Enough said.
Best car chase scene ever is the one where Principle Rooney tried to put his car key in the door as it is being towed and it takes off and he chases it down the street. -Ferris Bueller
