I was thinking of Hotel Rwanda while I was reading this thread the first time. It was an excellent movie - it just left me feeling ashamed of myself for not knowing this situation was going on.
American History X is in my collection. Both Edwards (Norton and Furlong) were great. A lot of times I'll watch a movie just because I enjoy the actors' performances.
Great topic! I think I have a problem with this... I love it the first time but can't watch it again.
American History X
Schindler's List
Unforgiven (Great but too long to sit though again)
The Sixth Sense (once you know the ending its just a sort of creepy movie)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The Last Samurai
All of the Lord of the Rings movies
Brokeback Mountain
honestly, if you've only seen Unforgiven once, then i can almost assure you that youre missing out on alot that makes it such a great film. guaranteed.
Other movies I was too much of a wuss to see:
United 93
Requiem for a Dream
I actually rented them, then sent them back without watching them.
watch United 93. fact: it is a different experience than watching a movie.
Requiem for a dream: it gave me a headache by the end and i just wanted the movie to end. you know those movies where they try to simulate being on drugs, but not in fun way - more of a head-spinning, nautious way? well, there was way too much of that.
cil, United 93, wasn't bad. I thought as a NYer, I'd want to avoid this type of film, but somehow if I see them alone, I can manage them and find them cathartic.

Maybe I will give it another try. I very much appreciated Greengrass' Bloody Sunday.
The younger son watched United 93 and said it was worthwhile, so it did not go back unseen at all.
I'm not one who only wants to see feel-good stuff, but this one intimidated me.

I love this movie, its one of my favorites. I could sing the praises of Edward Norton all day long.. he's absolutely incredible. It is sad and graphic, but I agree its a great movie with amazing performances.
Another movie for me which I watched when I was a kid but could never watch again - Edward Scissorhands. I was truly freaked out when I watched it and never wanted to watch it again. And I actually just watched it for the second time more than 10 years later about 2 months ago. Dont know why I was so freaked out by it.
Different strokes, I guess. I've just about worn out my copy of Edward Scissorhands - in fact, any collaboration between Tim Burton and Johnny Depp is a keeper. (Can't wait to see Sweeney Todd!)
I loved Mystic River, mainly for Sean Penn's performance. Plus I'll watch anything with Kevin Bacon in it.
Pee Wee!!!!! I loved the Pee Wee Herman movies! We were always in front of the TV for Pee Wee's Playhouse (just to keep the kids company, of course )
OT - Million Dollar Baby was a great movie, first time I ever liked Clint Eastwood in anything. I was glued to the whole story, but don't think I could watch it again.
