What about when Sally Field's daughter dies in Steel Magnolias? Her grief is so heart rending.
?
I was fine with the daughters death...
but the way the mom handled it...the funeral scene where she finally breaks down...made my manly tough grown arse cry like a baby...I actually really like that movie (usually hate anything even remotely chick flicky) and will watch it, alone of course...if the guys are around I will hide...cant watch that scene without losing it...

The mother's grief was the hardest to watch. As she stood vigil over her daughter in the hospital - saying goodbye to her baby, accepting that she was gone....it's a real heartbreaker and I thought Sally Fields did a marvelous job with that role.
And nobody was saddened, terrified, or freaked out by the death of Ben (Duane Jones) in Night Of The Living Dead, George Romero's seminal 1968 zombie classic? First time I saw the movie I was astonished, distressed and more.
This was a million years ago, but Father Ralph's death in The Thorn Birds tore me up. Starring Richard Chamberlain and Rachel Ward. Remember that series? I watched The Thorn Birds again recently. What a laugh that decades ago I thought this drivel was great drama and literature!
