I have Netflix because Hubby's a movie buff, and it's cheaper than cable. He watches old TV series and movies, I watch current TV series. I just finished season 5 of "Homicide", and I'm about to start season 1 of "Big Love".

I'm very happy with Netflix. We usually have a 2-day wait for DVDs. The only time I had problems was when 2 "Homicide" DVDs in a row came damaged. It took about 3 days to get a new copy.

What I REALLY like is DVDPlay. It's a kiosk in my grocery store that carries new releases. You search through the movies on a screen, click, slide your credit card, input your email address (for your invoice) and the movie pops out!

We have something similar here called "Redbox." I like the fact that they put the "kid" movies at the bottom of the kiosk, and the "adult" (not porn) movies closer to the top. Each movie is $1 a day, and after 20 days it's yours to keep. They're at supermarkets and McDonald's. They can be returned at any Redbox location, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it at airports and train stations in the near future.

I have Netflix and I like the speed that the movies come.......its usually shipped with next day delivery. I pay 8.51 monthly for 3 movies......which is really more than I usually watch, but with 3 teens, I get the wacky movies like Norbit for them.

What I can't figure out is say I want to go on vacation, if I have a movie already and send it back, then the new movie would sit at the Post Office till I return. Is there anyway to stop it for a couple of weeks, I know that I would still have to pay, but I feel guilty having he movies sit.

I use BlockBuster online. 18.89 a month. 3 rentals at a time, and you can take your movies to a local store, and turn them in, and they will mail them, at the same time, they will let you rent 3 more movies, but its not really renting, you get them for free when turning in the movies.

Then, the next 3 movies in your queue come in the mail... I like it. Have never tried Net Flix tho...

It does rock!! I like it very much. One thing though. It seems like the most common complaint among Netflix users is that damaged DVDs tend to get returned to them as the replacement one. Due to the sheer volume of dvds, some damaged ones will slip through the cracks. It doesn’t happen too often to me. When it does, I report it online and attach a post-it note to the white envelope stating that it should be removed from circulation. I don’t mind taking the time to do this because I feel I’m getting a good deal from Netflix.

A year ago, my rate was $19.99 but was lowered to $17.99 plus tax for the 4-rentals-at-a-time-unlimited-rentals plan which is less than the $23.99 stated on its website for this plan. Netflix seems to be adjusting rates to be competitive with Blockbuster.

I do OK with Netflix; they've been prompt at sending DVDs, and at resolving complaints. Only once have I received a movie that wasn't top on my queue.

I've only had one cracked disc, and I've rented a lot of movies. It's bound to happen.

I was wondering as a sidenote if any Netflix users are at all tempted to try the Blockbuster alternative. The only attraction they can offer is the additional service at the store. But the reason I went to Netflix is that I don't even want to GO to the store, at all! There aren't any movies, really, that I have to see so badly that I'm going to jump up and run down to Blockbuster to rent. There's still good stuff going on at IFC, Sundance, Starz, TCM, and I have a DVR besides...

Damn! Am I a junkie or WHAT?

Sure, I would try Blockbuster but only if another company buys Netflix and ruins it. For now, I don’t see a need to quit Netflix. It’s great to know that there is a good alternative like Blockbuster in terms of price and convenience.

You have plenty of company. Online subscriptions tend to turn all of us into junkies because it’s such a good value.

Default Great Service

I've been with Netflix for about 8 months, have great service, my CD's are usually a 1 day turnaround, if they get my CD on Tues, by Thurs I have my next one...........I'm on the three CD's a month rate. I'm very happy with the choices also.
