It was beautifully shot.

Default Bend of the River

Much of this movie was filmed on location around Mt Hood in Oregon. Great scenic shots.

The Secret of Roan Inish is a lot like that. The cinematography, the music, and the silent moments are really moving.

And even though I find most Terence Malick movies intensely boring, they are absolutely gorgeous.

You know what movie really surprised me with some truly gorgeous shots? Conan the Barbarian. I kid you not. Most of it was filmed in Spain, and some of the shots are just stunning. The scene where Conan and Subotai are running across the plains is particular favorite. Or where they are discussing theology around the campfire. Or the beach scenes with Mako.

The Searchers was just on again yesterday on AMC,and the Monument Valley locations are still just as stunning as they first were more than half a century ago when this film was shot.

Last of the Mohicans - I spent most of the movie trying to figure out where they filmed it and wanting to move to North Carolina by the end
Dances with Wolves
Braveheart - hated the movie, loved the scenery even if it was Ireland doubling for Scotland
Shadowlands - filmed in Oxford and the countryside surrounding it which is just glorious
