And do you think they ever will? You could argue (I wouldn't totally agree) that the 2000's never even developed a distinct style from the 1990's as things like rap and alternative music only got bigger after 2000.

2010 seems like 2009, but 2009 is different from the rest of the 00s - it's far more oriented towards glamour and electronic music and borrows a lot from the 80s, it lacks the grungy feel that dominated most of the 00s. but it's still trashy and sleazy like the 00's were.

Mainstream music continues to devolve, I dont see anything changing anytime soon.

Wow somebody else gets it. There are no distinct "styles" anymore, musically or otherwise. And music has been going quickly down the toilet for quite some time.

Very. And don't get me started on how crude/obnoxious/immature we're getting more generally. Can't tell you the last time I went to a theater because people won't just SHUT UP.

The older I get the more of a hermit I become.

I see it more as the major labels have taken talent to the lowest common denominator.
They are more concerned with looks than talent.

LOL! Ditto that. But then the look is all the same too. - too much of everything, nothing natural looking.

the 2000's developed that mostly awful nu-metal sound that is prevalent on modern rock stations now. 2010 doesnt seem to have changed anything about that. The electronic music scene is pretty awesome though. They are bringing back the synth pop style of the 80s but with upgraded equipment and new effects. Some really creative stuff out there.
