This next poll is straight at the middle part of the 1980's- 1985. Which song that reached the top of the summit that year do you like best?

Voted for Simple Minds, but could have gone with Tears for Fears, Wham!, Mr. Mister, Paul Young or Duran Duran. I like Phil Collins, but not those two songs. I am very neutral with the a-ha song, but many seem to like it.

Hate the Dire Straits tune.

Everybody wants to rule the world. A very good song which I just put on my IPOD yesterday, ironically.

I think that all years from 1980 to 1984 were good music years. 1985 and 1986 there was a drop off in quality, and then the last three years of the decade, 1987,1988,1989 were all very bad.

Seems TFF will win, unless people vote for other songs.

I'm caught between two: "Careless Whisper" and "Take on Me"! If judging was by video, the latter would take it hands down! But, I think I'll vote for the former, having suggested it on a thread not long ago and being amazed by its structure and the performance all over again. I LOVE the saxophone bridge, and I don't care for sax much.

These lists remind me repeatedly of how low music has sunk. *sigh**weeps*mourns*

OMG. Just as I was voting, the episode of Modern Family where the pharmacist sings this at the community event comes on! Foreigner - I Want to Know What Love Is.

So hard to chose only one. My life at that time flashed before my eyes. This list has it ALL.

How about a poll on which of the years had the MOST best number ones? This list could be it!

"Everything She Wants." Not exactly a huge Wham/George Michael song, but I've always liked this one a lot and it still sounds good. I think the lyrics are a bit out of the ordinary.

I agree, he has better songs in his repetoire, but that song still sounds fresh.

Did you change your mind and voted for something else, because "Everything She Wants" still has no votes, lol?

84 to 87 were just great years.. With 85 being the top, I think.

Hard to find a song on that list that isn't a classic. I went with Huey.. Power of Love was a monster song, and still holds up today.
