It was a top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100. I won't mention other charts.
A cover version came closer to number one than the original which is #429.
He's giving away this.....
Sam Cooke - Another Saturday Night
This was a great song, but there's another version of this song I like better, but I can't find it. It's not the Cat Stevens version either.
B-I-N-G-O
I wrote down the name of the song while hearing the Cat Stevens version. Then after some research I saw that Cooke had the original and I did not know that. So post the original when possible.

Just as an aside, I could never understand why Cat Stevens would cover a song like this. It would be kinda like Harry Chapin covering Moon River. 'Course, I never really understood Cat Stevens.
He did one and only one song that grabbed me and I liked a lot. Oh Very Young.
I have no doubt, Howard. Sounds very familiar, but is not in my "instant" zone. Sounds Buddy Holly-esque, but so far I haven't been able to match it to a song.
It would be amazing if it were Buddy Holly, since he has been prominent on my mind a lot lately. Suddenly and rather unexpectedly my "retirement" relocation search incentive has markedly increased and, strange as it may seem, Iowa remains one of the most attractive options. Yesterday I spent considerable time looking at Mason City in some detail.
In the early 70s, on trips between Omaha and Minneapolis I drove many times within a very few miles of the plane crash site without having any idea where it was. And back then, it was not something I even thought about. Today, I wouldn't go anywhere near that area without paying a visit.
Not Buddy Holly.
Here is a video of Buddy at a Texas High School performance with Elvis and a couple other would become stars.
(Around three years before he toured with Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson)
