Has to be Keith Moon. What a shame he had to leave so soon. I understand that Roger Daltry is producing a movie about his life as soon as a good script writer can get it right.
Should be quite a movie. Talk about larger than life.
A guy named Gavin Harrison plays with a band called Porcupine Tree. His style reminds me of Neil Peart. Harrison is fantastic.

Im not sure that is a question that can be answered. There are a lot of great ones. All with their own style of playing, that you like to watch play. I have to say Keith Moon, I love to see him play, not just his playing, just to watch him is entertaining. Ginger Baker a close second.
How could I forget John Bonham? His son, Jason, carries on.
I have never really understood the allure of Bonham, sure he is good but other has his right foot I never heard anything that was amazing. He relied heavily on triplets, while they may sound good they are really not technically that difficult.
Take the riffs from Dave Weckl and then Bonham and there is no comparison. Even when Weckl does triplets they are more complex.
Just for fun here is an effortless solo by Buddy Rich. I remember watching him live when I was 15, he was amazing. He was clocked at 20 strokes per second on a single stroke roll. He was 61 here BTW.
