And sure Great Sphinx and Great Pyramid of Giza are true materpieces. The Great Pyramid of Giza is the only survivor of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and it's cool. It's still the great mystery how they managed to build that great pyramid.

And yep, you have the wonderful resorts like Sharm el-Sheikh. Lemme tell ya lots of people I know visit that city to spend their vacation

Wow!! FlashM...That is awesome. I am glad to hear you like our old civilization ( the ancient Egypt). You can come and see all about it oneday, you can visit me aswell.

Hi Mona!

Great thread and I'm really just posting so I can find it easily again.

Going to start working my way through all the song selections now and I just know I'm going to love them!

I know this is more a commercial radio Western song but I've always loved it, especially Cheb Mami singing in Arabic. I wondered if you know it?

Hi FlashM..
Yes.....I live in Egypt for almost 40 years now, but I have no idea about the mystery of the pyramids....... I have visited it twice in my life and travelled to Loxor and Aswan for one week.
The rumors are totally wrong...I think the pharaouns ( the ancient egyptians) who built the pyramids. That makes sense.
The scientists still work on these secrets until now...So maybe we will find out something oneday.......Be patient.

You are welcome to the club.
I noticed that the orchestra performing with Umm Kulthoum is not reading music which is typical of classical musicians in the west. Is this style of music traditional or folk ? or do classical musicians traditionaly memorize the music. I am sure I have an Album by this singer in my record collection.

Hello thriftylefy!!
I used to see the orchestra of Umm Kulthoum performed without musical notes from the begining till the end...They liked to study very well and went on the stage to play.

Generally.....In Arab music the musicians memorize the music...and also I can say some of them are reading the notes..but this case is very rare.
