Who are some famous members of bands who started out their musical career as solo artists before they became members of that band?

The only people I can think of who qualify are Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, who were both in a solo act before joining Fleetwood Mac in 1975. I almost added Sammy Hagar to the list (he was a solo artist when he joined Van Halen), but he didn't start out his musical career as a solo artist (he was in Montrose before going solo).

Both Agneta and Anni-Frid from ABBA started as solo artists.

Leif Garrett had more popularity as a solo artist than as a member of this band:

YouTube - Godspeed-Anberlin

I don't have a clip, but I believe Davy Jones was already making music BEFORE he joined the Monkees.

Leif Garrett is not now, nor has he ever been, a member of Anberlin.

Correct--because that's the name of the song.

I just watched a biography special on Leif Garrett, and it talked about him starting this band called Godspeed.

I don't think you understand what you posted. That youtube link you posted is a song by the band Anberlin called Godspeed. You have your terms confused.

^Okay, I won't discount that possibility. I suppose that could be the other way around, and I need to look up songs by the band Godspeed first. Then look those up on YouTube.

Robert Plant band jumped every night, as a lead singer, in his early career as a blues singer, and then recorded solo works such as Our Song," "Laughing, Crying, Laughing," "Long Time Coming," "I've Got A Secret." It was later he became a member of Led Zepplin and then after the dismemberment of the band embarked on another solo career.

It IS the other way around. I have met Anberlin. I am not implying that your link is wrong, I am TELLING you it is wrong.
