Here is my fave Spandau song, I remember dancing to this at Studio K back in the 80s as a young teen. It was an outdoor dance club held after hours at a local amusement park called Knott's. it was one of the few places one could go to dance at night under the legal drinking age - yet it attracted quite a few full grown adults as well as I can distinctly remember. Check out my fave, Martin Kemp, in his Scots tartans - he looks even better with age now, still has that dimpled chin.
We had "Blue Light Discos" which were run by local police in most towns or suburbs and they were for underage kids to have a place to go out and socialize with other kids. I just looked it up and apparently they have started the program again as part of an effort by police to re-engage with the youth. I think a lot of people my age in Australia would have memories of blue light discos in their teens.
Spandau, as I'm sure you're fully aware, were meant to be the great rivals to Duran Duran. Didn't come close in my opinion (of course ) but they were a decent band and I did think Martin Kemp was hot. They had quite a few good songs that charted well here, probably even better ones that weren't singles but I never bought an album, don't know why because I did like them.
