I need recommendations for good seafood restaurants in the area that are not buffets. Thanks!

Depends on how far you want to travel and how much you want to spend. Our favorite in the Murrells Inlet area is Hot Fish Club. Also good in the same area are Drunken Jacks and Lees Inlet Kitchen. For something for a little less money, Inlet Crab House.

There are lots of people who are fans of The Claw House in the same area but I've had two lousy, overpriced meals there. I always give a restaurant a second chance but I'll never go back.

In the Myrtle Beach area, Bimini's on Arrowhead Road, Conch Cafe, Sara J's, Driftwoods.

There are lots of people who love the Sea Captains House. When we first moved here it was very good, but IMO the food has gone downhill.

If you want a REALLY different experience, try Luvan's Fish Camp in Conway. You have to have a lot of patience as sometimes the cook is also the waiter, but the food is great and the atmosphere is...quirky. Cash only.

In the North Myrtle Beach area, Tidewater Grill, Flying Fish is ok, Rockefellers Raw Bar (not just raw food), Juel's.

General advice, stay away from restaurants at Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing. They are all geared toward tourists with mostly average food at inflated prices. For example, our favorite sushi place has a location in a strip mall in Carolina Forest and a second location at Broadway at the Beach. The Carolina Forest location prices are lower and the portions are bigger than the Broadway location...'nuff said.
