Too soon to tell. Based on where I've played recently, MBN - West, Wild Wings Avocet, Grande Dunes and Pine Lakes are all in pretty good shape. The city has recently made some investment into Whispering Pines, new cart path, new maintenance contract, redoing some tee boxes. This course drains well, so a good pick after some rainy days. Blackmoor has invested in some drainage work.
Played Pawleys Plantation this week. They've made some major investment here lately. Reworked a couple of holes, resodding of some of the tee boxes (these should be well established by Feb) greens are in excellent shape and very fast. Clubhouse food is very good. Back 9 has incredible marshland views.
International Club in Murrel's Inlet - Nice neighborhood course, could use some work, tricky greens if the ground crew is being malicious with the hole placement. Fairways in good shape.
Arrowhead is always a good bet but gets crowded on weekends.
Legends is notorious for slow play.
Thanks for the input. I’m staying in NMB but will travel south for good golf. I have relatives, friends and old business associates coming down and I want the courses to be top shelf as the are driving down from NY, NJ and PA. I realize it’s winter golf but I want their experience to be pleasant.
This site provides periodic updates on course conditions with pictures. There are a lot of "puff" pieces here but some good information too. https://www.playgolfmyrtlebeach.com/blog/
