Hi Everyone!

We are from NY and are looking to buy a condo in the Myrtle Beach area, as a second home for when the kids are off from school. We are looking for areas that are for families. My husband loves to golf and we love the beach. We have been thinking about Garden City and the Murrells Inlet area but I am not sure if that is more of a retirement area.

Any help would be appreciated!

Sandy

I think you are making a good choice. We took our kids to Garden City as teens and now they still go back to enjoy the area as time goes on.
Some have made lifelong friends from that area also.

It is a mixture of ages, and I think that is a good thing.

In the winter you might find a group of older residents who "snowbird" down that way. But, the norm is all ages.

We are in Murrells Inlet area with a preschooler and we love it. Good mix.

As a vacation home I think Garden City would be a good choice. You would be close enough to the excitement of Myrtle Beach but far enough that you won't be overwhelmed. Garden City has a nice beach, too.
