Does anyone know the relative cost per kw/hr for MTEMC versus NES? Also wondering if there are any other noticable differences between the two? It looks like the house we're buying is serviced by MTEMC, and I've only dealt with NES here in TN.

Thanks!

Nathan

My last MTEMC bill shows a charge of 8.31 cents per kwh. This was adjusted downward by .15 cents per kwh for the TVA fuel cost adjustment to net 8.16 cents per kwh. There is a $9.79 per month customer charge, plus those bastards have a forced donation with operation round up to get your bill to an even amount.

looking at latest NES bill, 8.923 cents per kwh, $11.72 customer charge, and TVA fuel cost adjustment took my bill up a little. So it sounds like MTEMC should be a touch cheaper than NES on the whole.

re operation roundup, it looks like you can opt out:

MTEMC

It also looks like you can have up to 12 months of past contributions refunded retroactively.

Makes sense to me that MTEMC is cheaper. It's a non-profit cooperative.

Thanks for the information on canceling. I won't cancel, because I don't mind the $6/year I pay on the bill to help out folks in need. I just hate that they automatically put it on there.
