Looking for suggestions for exotic and/or ethnic food in the wider Nashville area. Obviously I'm not looking for a Chinese or Indian takeout place - something that is unique to the wider Nashville area or even to Tennessee, Kentucky, or neighboring areas.

While it's not ethnic in the global sense, Hot Chicken is definitely one of the unique foods this area is known for. Prince's Hot Chicken is the original, though Hattie B's on West End is probably the most popular right now. I'm a 400 Degrees fan (off of 4th Avenue near the Music City Center).

I would also recommend a drive up and down Nolensville Road. There are ethnic cuisines and grocery stores of all types on it.
