Global insurer AIG is bringing 750 jobs to the Davidson County side of Brentwood in the new Seven Springs office development. And Asurion, which currently employs 700 at its Antioch call center, is also expanding although the number of jobs isn't specified.

Separately: Swiss banker UBS, which already has a large presence in downtown Nashville's UBS Tower, is adding 250 jobs to Williamson County's One Franklin Park and another 28 wealth management jobs in a separate Williamson County location. This expansion now means that One Franklin Park's first phase is now completely leased.

Having more urban grocery options has got to be a huge need for downtown living to continue to grow. I'm really surprised there haven't been more spring up. I guess margins are so tight in that industry that the volume has to justify the build.

As a native Nashvillian I feel weird that I have no interest in living in these newer urban developments. I feel like I should want to, but I don't for some reason and I wish I knew why. I lived in LA and liked it a lot. My two best friends live in an urban setting in Seattle and I think it's awesome. I have a friend living in urban Denver and it's appealing to me, etc. But for some reason I'm just not into that urban scene in Nashville. Don't get me wrong, I love all the new developments for the city and the area and it's awesome, I just feel like maybe I'm set in my ways since I grew up here. I've said it before kind of tongue-in-cheek that part of me wishes I didn't grow up here so I could experience the city from a newcomer's perspective because I know there's a lot to appreciate.

I feel the same way. Most of it is based on my family situation...with kids urban living simply isn't as feasible in Nashville as it is in the 'burbs. Areas like 12South and East Nashville would have some appeal if we didn't have kids. But true urban living in the downtown core just isn't appealing to me, but I'm also a product of suburbia myself. Had I lived in a large city or another downtown core area, I'm sure I'd feel much differently.
